Headache Diet
Headache specialists have drafted a diet for the headache patients whose pain may be triggered by something which they eat.
Avoid the following:
- Ripened cheeses (Permissible cheeses: American, cottage, cream, and Velveeta)
- Herring
- Chocolate
- Vinegar (except white vinegar)
- Fermented, pickled or marinated foods
- Sour cream, yogurt
- Nuts, Peanut Butter
- Hot fresh breads, raised coffeecakes, and doughnuts
- Pods of broad beans (Lima, navy, and pea pods)
- Any foods containing large amounts of monosodium glutamate (as in Chinese foods)
- Onions
- Canned figs
- Citrus foods (no more than one orange per day)
- Bananas (no more than one half banana per day)
- Pizza
- Pork (no more than two to three times per week)
- Excessive tea, coffee, and cola beverages (no more than four cups per day)
- Avocado
- Fermented sausage (bologna, salami, pepperoni, summer sausage, and HOT DOGS)
- Chicken livers
- All alcoholic beverages (If you must drink, take no more than two normal sized drinks. Suggested drinks include: Sauterne and Riesling wines, Seagram's VO, Cutty Sark, and vodka)
